The Irish zest for life has once again arrived in Toggenburg
With just over 6000 visitors over two days, the 12th edition of the Irish Openair Toggeburg was celebrated in the Rietbad. The festival with Irish ambience, great music with various artists, including the 5-time world champion in Irish dance - David Geany with his band was a success. His performance was simply phenomenal, some people asked themselves how on earth he, like his sister, can move his legs and feet so quickly and with such coordination.
Nothing is impossible. The organizers were astonished when an OC member suggested buying an Irish pub in Hamburg in March 2022, which was to be completely liquidated. The pub and its contents were dismantled in Hamburg, loaded and transported to Nesslau without any fear of additional expense. Once in Nesslau, an entire shipping container of material was sorted, dismantled and redesigned. Now it's time to present the new bar to all Irish fans. A lot of hard work has been put into it and the best possible use for the marquee has been worked out. The new centerpiece will be tested and used for the first time on the weekend of September 2-3, 2022. The organizers can hardly wait.
We would like to thank all those who support the Irish Openair Toggenburg in any way, be it with sponsoring or the countless helpers, without whom it would be impossible to hold the event.
Musical
Móran Téada opened the Openair musically on Friday afternoon at 16:00. The band with two Toggenburg band members got off to a brilliant start in Paddy's Tent. The atmosphere was good.
On Friday evening, "the sidh" rocked the Main Stage. The young band from Italy reinterpreted Irish folk music. The audience really enjoyed the somewhat different performance. On Saturday, Irish folk was planned for the whole day from 08:00 with Paul Daly Band. David Geaney kicked off the Saturday evening on the main stage. The Irish dancer from Ireland and his band were able to sweep the festival visitors away with their Irish joie de vivre.
News 2022
New was the Toggenburg Irish Pub, which originated from an Irish pub in Hamburg that was about to be completely liquidated. It took countless hours of work to bring even more Irish flair to the marquee.
The new landmark is the Lighthouse Bar, which has been covered with a round tent with the colors of the Irish flag (green, white & orange), which can be seen from afar. An additional covered bar was created underneath, where cozy conversations can take place. The organizers would like to thank all visitors who enjoyed the festival and the ambience.
Catering
The various catering pubs were very much enjoyed & used in all areas. Irish stew, fish & chips as well as seafood and crêpes were enjoyed. The range of drinks is also in keeping with this, with many different types of beer and a large selection of whiskeys.
