Late weather luck spreads Irish joie de vivre

The 11th Irish Openair Toggenburg took place on the weekend of September 6 and 7, 2019 in Rietbad (Ennetbühl SG) at the foot of the Säntis. The festival of Irish joie de vivre was characterized by a peaceful atmosphere, a unique atmosphere, late weather luck and top-class musical performances.

The Irish Openair Toggenburg took place in the Luterental for the eleventh time. On Friday, a surprisingly large number of visitors braved the inclement weather. Many Irish fans spent the night in the tent. The bad weather did nothing to dampen the good atmosphere. On Saturday, the weather turned out better than expected, which attracted many spontaneous visitors to the festival site. Rays of sunshine illuminated the festival, which had been designed with great attention to detail. The new tent arrangement proved its worth. A total of almost 6,000 visitors attended the festival, which is a good average compared to previous years.

The musical program had various highlights on both days. Kirean Given, The Original Royal Sulgemer Crown Swamp Pipers, Laralba, Bunoscionn, Uncle Bard & The Dirty Bastards, The Led Farmers and The BeerMats could be experienced on Friday evening. Saturday's entertainment included Brendan Wade & Simon Brem, Laralba, The Paul Daly Band, Dream Catcher, The BeerMats, Dervish, the dance group Maguire O'Shea Switzerland, Jamie Clarke's Perfect and Bunoscionn. Early on Saturday evening, Móran Téada, a Toggenburg band, performed Irish music for the first time. The four artists passed the test with flying colors. The performance by Pigeons on the Gate was also very special. Towards the end of the energetic concert, the band from Winterthur announced that they would not be performing next year. This made the concert at the Irish Openair Toggenburg one of Pigeons on the Gate's last for the time being. The audience thanked the band with calls for encores.

The Irish Openair Toggenburg 2019 was a thoroughly successful event. A festival like this would not be possible without the great support of many participants, especially the numerous volunteers.
