Beoga (Gaelic for "lively") are a five-piece band from County Antrim, Ireland. Formed in 2002, they have become one of the most popular and influential ensembles in modern Irish music.
The foundation of their unique sound lies firmly in the Irish tradition. However, Beoga are not afraid to incorporate nuances of other styles into their music. From bluesy riffs to jazzy influences to a raunchy New Orleans jamboree vibe, the basis of their music is always a wonderfully Irish sound. The result is traditional with a great sense of fun and adventure and it all works - beautifully.
Beoga have produced four albums to date. The album "the incident", presented in 2009, was even nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Contemporary World Music Album.
