The Dublin Legends: The most famous Irish folk band

Last year's Irish Openair Toggenburg was sold out. Some music fans were denied access to the festival site, which is why not all Ireland enthusiasts were able to experience the headliner "The Dublin Legends" live. So that everyone could enjoy the legendary band from the Irish capital against the unique backdrop of the foothills of the Alps, "The Dublin Legends" were quickly booked for the Irish Openair Toggenburg 2017. With The Dublin Legends (formerly: The Dubliners), we were able to engage the most famous band of the genre!

The Dubliners were founded in Dublin in 1962. They have therefore often been referred to as the oldest boy band in the world. The Dubliners became famous with songs such as "Seven Drunken Nights", "Black Velvet Band" and "Irish Rover". Hardly any other band has shaped their genre as much as The Dubliners did. In 2012, the band - and with it the name "The Dubliners" - retired.

Fortunately, part of the old band continues under the name "The Dublin Legends": Seán Cannon (Vocals, Guitar, Mandola) and Eamonn Campbell (Vocals, Guitar) will also perform at the Irish Openair Toggenburg. They will be accompanied by Gerry O'Connor (Irish tenor banjo, fiddle), who has been performing regularly with The Dubliners since 2005. Paul Watchorn (Vocals, Five String Banjo) replaced his brother, who was formerly on the road with The Dubliners.
