Simon & Amelie: swiss tradition meets irish folk

untitled 4

Swiss traditional meets Irish folk.
This year, two concerts will be specially rehearsed for the Irish Openair under this title. We are staying true to Irish music, but with this project we want to combine the two traditions with music and dance in a "cultural window".
These concert projects are unique in Switzerland to date.

Music: You can look forward to an exciting project on Friday and Saturday evening. Local musician Simon Lüthi from Ebnat-Kappel has been commissioned to combine local Swiss folklore with Irish music (see Simon Lüthi's Palmares). Simon Lüthi is a well-known dancer, yodeller, Bödeler and Gäuerler and is one of the best Schwyzerörgel players in Switzerland.
Dance: Bödelen and Gäuerlen are traditional Swiss dances and have a certain affinity with Irish step dancing. Both dance forms are presented. Bödelen and Gäuerlen with Simon Lüthi and for the tap dance the virtuoso and well-established dancer Amelie Brune (see Palmares).
BandsSimon makes the appearance with the two groups he is friends with from Illgau SZ in the Moutathal, namely the "John Doe Band" and the "One Night Band"see LineUp. Both bands feature people who come from the traditional customs for which the Moutathal is known. You can look forward to this unique musical experience.

Simon LüthiBorn: 18.10.1981, grew up in a musical family in Steinenbach in Ebnat-Kappel and still lives in Ebnat-Kappel today. His father was a well-known country musician and his mother a yodeller in the Hüsliberg yodeling choir. Even as a small boy, he made his first musical attempts on the instruments that were at home and also sang his first yodel songs and natural yodels. Simon taught himself the instruments Schwyzerörgeli, accordion, Miniörgeli and double bass. As they simply enjoyed music and liked to go dancing, they also tried their hand at Bödelä and Gäuerlä at a very young age. Our culture has a right to be lived!

1991 First major appearances with the family band and Simon's father's formation
1993 First TV appearance in the program "Bsuech in" Toggenburg
1997 First CD studio recordings

Since then, I have had the pleasure of playing with many different musicians at home and abroad and have been a regular guest on TV (SRF, BR) and radio programs. (Youtube; Youtube/Radio; Youtube; Youtube)
Numerous recordings with various formations bear witness to this time.

Trained as an electrician, he now works as a senior citizen's worker and sacristan in the reformed parish of Ebnat-Kappel and Nesslau, as well as a freelance musician and music teacher.

Amelie is trained in Irish dance and classical ballet. She has qualified for the world championships five times, won medals at international championships and a number of championship titles in Germany, Italy and Belgium.

Her extensive stage experience includes performances at the KKL Luzern and at the Riverdance Summer School in Dublin. She has passed eleven Irish Dance Commission exams (CLRG) with top marks and currently dances at the District Irish Dance Academy in Washington, DC (USA).
