Silas "Quirill" Bitterli
singer/songwriter, designer, multi-instrumentalist, world builder
born in 1986. grew up in the langenthal region (bern / switzerland)
Quirill attended the Oberaargau grammar school, specializing in visual arts. During this time, he sang in his first band. The band "Oblivion", which set itself the goal of transforming fairy tales into prog rock, later became "Straitjacket inc" which was somewhere between hard rock and britpop. At university, Quirill began by studying German Literature and Interreligious Studies, which he then swapped for a degree in Fine Arts at the Bern University of the Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts.abstract painting he later invested most of his time in his projectPilgrim's Progresswhere he realized his passion for legends, myths and legends with scissors and digital painting. After his studies, he worked for a while as afreelance designer and had a job in the free church environment, where he was involved in music and theology. during this time he played in the bandMolahswhich accompanied the rapper Chejs Romero, and started his collaboration in theMetalchurchwhere he still sings in the band today. In a further course of study, this time at the teacher training college in Bern, he obtained a teaching diploma in visual arts for secondary schools. In addition to his work as a teacher, where he mainly teaches art and music, he works closely with Dario Colombo and Cyril Stoller, whom he supports as a singer inOrgan meets Metal,Liquid Rain andMirayon as a design consultant, for example in the projectoberaargau costume he dealt with tradition and culture.
And then came Scotland....
While traveling to Scotland, he found an additional passion forphotography andwatercolor. But above all, he found a love for folk and celtic folk. In 2018 he started a solo project as a singer/songwriter under the name"Quirill". Inspired by pub sessions, traditional Irish and Scottish music and his travels, he has already released an EP "Stones and waves", a single "Last ferry home" and an album "Journey" - which is all his own, from writing the songs to recording, mixing and mastering. Including illustrations, photos and design. - slowly all the different skills come together....
VINCENT BRUNEL
As a member of the Basel Symphony Orchestra, Vincent Brunel has a versatile artistic approach that encompasses a broad spectrum of musical styles.
Inspired by personalities such as Ivry Gitlis and Gilles Apap, he turned to traditional music, jazz and improvisation at an early age and shared his music with artists from all over the world.
In 2022, he joins the jazz ensemble Kaleidoscope String Quartet.
In addition to his work as a classical musician, he performs with musicians from different backgrounds, including jazz bassist Jérémy Bruyère, violinists Gilles Apap and Manuel Maïo, percussionist Alexandra Bellon, bandoneonist Michael Zisman, cellist Josep-Oriol Miro and accordionist Luca Fiorini, clarinettist Bruno Bonansea and kora player Adama Koeta.
He has been teaching Irish music at the Musik Akademie Basel since 2021.
