Móran Téada: Irish-Celtic music from Toggenburg

Moran Teada was originally founded during a trip to the World Dulcimer Congress in Taiwan in 2013. Back then, the three of us sat in the Maokong Gondola outside Taipei and decided to take a closer look at Irish music - in the original line-up with two dulcimers and a fiddle. However, a lot has changed since Moran Teada - loosely translated as "many strings" - was founded. In addition to the two types of instruments, others have been added, so that today the four members of Moran Teada arrange most of the songs and tunes for dulcimer, fiddle, piano, bodhràn, guitar and vocals themselves and rehearse and perform them with verve and passion.

The first CD "On The Wild Atlantic Way" was produced in summer 2018. The music takes the listener to rugged cliffs and across lush meadows along the famous Wild Atlantic Way on the west coast of Ireland. Moran Teada sometimes tell melancholically sad, sometimes cheerfully upbeat stories. Mostly, however, the tunes invite you to put your Guinness on the black pub bar and dance along late into the night, criss-crossing from jigs to reels and from hornpipes to polkas.

Moran Teada have been the siblings Patrick (dulcimer) and Larissa Baer (piano, vocals), Elisa Salaorni (fiddle, vocals) and Lukas Rechsteiner (bodhràn, guitar, vocals) since the beginning of 2017. The Irish Openair Toggenburg has been a source of inspiration for us for many years and for Patrick and Larissa - who grew up in Neu St. Johann - it's a kind of "home game".
