Keltikon: tradition and modernity
What do transmigration, birds, aloof politicians and nuclear submarines have in common? They appear in songs by Keltikon. Keltikon have been fusing tradition and modernity in an original way since 2012. In a mix of Celtic rock and folk punk, they interpret ancient Irish and Scottish traditionals, old stories and myths and also like to incorporate current topics into their songs. Their own songs, just like the old songs from the islands, are varied in terms of both lyrics and music. Now and again they are serious and melancholy, but mostly full of sparkling joie de vivre or with a lot of mischief in the neck.
Stomping rock, fast as an arrow folk-punk and with a handful of ballads, the band pays tribute to the old bards with passion. To ensure that the 'Whiskey in the Jar' in 'Dirty Old Town' never runs out, the versatile repertoire is rounded off with popular covers. Usually on the road with fiddle, guitar, two-part vocals, bass and drums, the experienced musicians also like to bring in guest musicians from time to time. If it needs to be a little quieter, the band also plays unplugged. Keltikon have played many concerts in countless pubs, music clubs and festivals in Switzerland and on three tours in the Czech Republic to enthusiastic response. The journey through the Celtic song garden makes this band a real experience for people from young to old.
